Anchored- The Boat
12"x9" watercolor on Saunders Paper
Another painting, I am producing a lot of art at the moment!..I guess it has to do with a general feeling of well being. My treatment has worked, finally and I feel alright now.No coughing.Feels great.
The boat looked lonely, sitting all alone on a pebble bed.But sometimes even 'sad' looks appealing.I tried an old paper for this, heavy weight -so no stretching.Though detailing was tough because of its grainy texture.Next time I am going to try hot pressed paper.

Shades of Gray in Pencil
Carbon Pencil on Canson Bristol Smooth
15"x12"
I love drawing in pencil but I hate the sheen of graphite .This artwork was an experiment, as I tried carbon pencil instead to bring out more contrast and more life.I think carbon worked better than graphite (though less easy to control- they are not as smooth)It would be difficult to do a child's face, for instance; using carbon pencils! Thus,I chose this elephant .The texture of his skin gave me a lot to try different techniques.Another reason was to get a better understanding of its anatomy. Now I know each and every line on this gentle giant's head ....:) It would be a lot easier to paint it in watercolor now.
Took me about 25 hours or so, but in the end I am happy with the results.
As for my smooth skinned subjects, I might have to experiment some more- may be find a new paper!

Blond and Handsome
Watercolor 7"x5"
Another small watercolor...I realized later that I could nor achieve the desired softness in his face because the paper I used was 'grain fin' !I will be doing some similar subjects again, using a smoother paper.
I have been refraining from pastels for some time- as my cough is still persistent.I don't have any evidence that pastels caused it- but since the doctors are clueless, I may as well stay on the safe side.( Though I love pastels and its tough forcing myself to stay away)
I visited the clinic this morning only to find that my chest X-Ray was fine, and they really don't have any clue as to why I am still coughing after three months!Trying on some steroids this week.Lets hope they work.
Till then, I am back to watercolor and pencil...

Senior citizen
Watercolor 7"x 5"
Did some watercolor painting today.I painted two little portraits, one of this aged gentleman whom I captured accidentally, as he sat on the same bench as my son as I clicked the picture...Since he was in the background, the image was blurry; but perfect for a loose watercolor! Same goes with a little blond boy I captured in the park.I will post that one later...These are very small paintings, I rarely paint this size- but I thoroughly enjoyed myself :)
Oh and I forgot to post my maiden effort at still life:
Watercolor 6"x5"
